Of the 38 fee figures it quoted for named schools, 27 came from directories and fee guides.

It depends on the question. In EasyFound's Malaysian test, ChatGPT recommended family resorts from their own facility pages, but budget George Town hotels from Booking.com, Agoda and Tripadvisor. Gemini, asked through Google's API, mostly named hotels without searching the web.
Put one checkable spec line on a page ChatGPT can read: tolerance, certificate, processes and town. Gemini did, far more than ChatGPT. In EasyFound's Malaysian test of 540 answers through each company's developer API, about 9 in 10 of ChatGPT's search queries for Malay questions were in English, while Gemini split its search queries about half and half.

Only partly. In EasyFound's Malaysian test of eight local questions via OpenAI's API, about one in five businesses ChatGPT named were in Google's top five places for the same search, and it cited no Google Maps links.

It can, in EasyFound's small test, but mostly the same few places every time. ChatGPT gave visitors from Singapore, China and Indonesia nearly the same shortlist, built from a state tourism guide and businesses' own pages, and never linked TripAdvisor, Klook, Trip.com or Xiaohongshu.
Yes. In EasyFound's tests, ChatGPT answered Chinese questions in Chinese. Asked about a business by name, it searched the web in Chinese too; asked to recommend one, it searched in English almost every time. Not reliably. OpenAI sells no place in ChatGPT's answers, but anyone can pay for or write the 'best X in Malaysia' lists ChatGPT reads. In EasyFound's Malaysian tests through OpenAI's API, ChatGPT used lists written by a business on them and rarely said so, yet one agency's paid lists didn't buy it the top spot.
They can. In EasyFound's test, buyers in Germany, the US, Japan and Singapore asked ChatGPT for electronics assembly, CNC machining and moulding partners in Malaysia. Every answer shortlisted factories in Malaysia. It looked for the certificates buyers named, and leaned on InvestPenang and MIDA far more than on MATRADE.
In EasyFound's test, when patients asked ChatGPT for a JB aesthetic clinic that doesn't push fillers, it described clinics by what it could find written about their approach, on their own pages or in reviews on directory sites. Its two answers to that question named seven different clinics.
Mostly from the IT company's own website. In EasyFound's Malaysian ChatGPT test, every answer to an SME owner's IT support question linked a provider's own site and repeated where it is based, which areas it covers and how fast it responds.
No AI company gives a timetable for changes to an existing page. On our own site, ChatGPT's and Google's crawlers came back for few of the pages we changed in the days we watched. What each company says, our logs, and a planned weekly re-check.
Publish plain, checkable facts about your doctors and treatments on your own website, within the MAB and MMC advertising rules. In EasyFound's test, ChatGPT linked clinics' own websites in nearly nine in ten answers about Malaysian aesthetic clinics.
Mostly two facts: what you do and where you are. In EasyFound's Malaysian tests across eleven kinds of business, ChatGPT said one or both nearly every time it named a business and linked its own website. The next fact depended on the trade, and reviews almost never came up when the link was the business's own site.

It depends on who will make the fixes. With no one to change your website, a GEO agency or done-for-you service usually fits; with someone who has a few hours a month, GEO software can be enough. To fix wrong hours, phone numbers or names in ChatGPT, find the page it took them from and correct that page, starting with your own website. We found no OpenAI form for correcting business details. Here are the steps, in order, for Malaysian businesses.

ChatGPT ads reached Malaysia in late September 2026. Businesses can buy them in OpenAI's Ads Manager, billed in ringgit, from a RM5.50 minimum daily budget. OpenAI's rules generally bar clinics, lawyers and most financial firms outside the US. Here's what to check first.

Probably not. OpenAI doesn't say its crawlers read llms.txt, Google says Search ignores it, and no AI or search crawler asked for ours in 348 requests.
They ask ChatGPT set questions, repeat each and count the share of answers naming you. In our Malaysian API test, most names in one answer were missing from the other two.
ChatGPT works out which business you mean from the pages it searches, pairing your name with your town, address, phone and trade. In EasyFound's test of Malaysian businesses that share a name, hours and phone numbers quoted from a business's own website mostly matched it.
Answer one customer question per section, first, with the RM price, area or hours in plain text. We measured a before-and-after rewrite and read 36 Malaysian pages ChatGPT cited.
Query fan-out is when ChatGPT or Google's AI turns one question into one or more web searches of its own, usually several. In EasyFound's Malaysian test, only 1 of 401 searches repeated the question word for word.
