Is one ChatGPT screenshot enough to report our AI visibility? (Malaysia)

EasyFound · · 7 min read

TL;DR

No. A ChatGPT screenshot shows one answer, from one AI engine, in one language, on one day. In our Malaysian test through OpenAI's API, only about one in twenty businesses ChatGPT named for a question came back every time we asked it again. Report AI visibility from the same questions asked on a schedule, per engine and per language, as counts with a monthly trend.

No. One ChatGPT screenshot shows one answer, from one AI engine, in one language, on one day. To report AI visibility for a brand in Malaysia, ask the same customer questions on a schedule, on each AI engine you name, in English, Malay and Mandarin, and report how often your brand is named, with the trend month by month.

Picture the marketing manager at a POS software company in Subang. The boss forwards a WhatsApp screenshot: ChatGPT named the company. A week later, a prospect asks the same thing and gets three other names.

We asked ChatGPT this exact question twice through OpenAI's API on 21 October 2026. It said no both times, but neither answer said to check Gemini or any other AI engine, or to ask in Malay or Mandarin. The report layout below fills that gap.

What goes in a monthly AI visibility report instead of a ChatGPT screenshot?

A monthly AI visibility report replaces the screenshot with five parts, each filled from the same question list asked on the same schedule. Copy it in this order:

A monthly AI visibility report layout for a brand in Malaysia, with what to fill into each part
Report part What to fill in Example entry (illustrative, not a finding)
A. Set-up line Question list, AI engines, languages, check dates, "no personal chat history" "Same 10 questions; ChatGPT and Gemini; EN, BM, Mandarin"
B. Count per engine and language How many answers named you, out of how many "Named in 9 of 40 Malay answers on Gemini"
C. Change from last month The move, and whether it held over several checks "Up two answers; one check only, so not called yet"
D. Fix list Who was named instead, which pages were cited, what the AI got wrong "Competitor named in BM; our old price quoted"
E. Appendix Screenshots, labelled with engine, date and language The boss's WhatsApp screenshot, as an example only

Part A comes first because without it nobody can recheck a number. Part E comes last: a screenshot shows what one customer may have seen, never how often.

How do I fill in and read each part of the monthly AI visibility report?

Fill each part of the AI visibility report from the same checks, in this order:

  1. Part A, the set-up line: run the checks with no personal chat history, and say so. The boss's own ChatGPT is a poor proxy: with Memory on, the app can draw on past chats and saved memories2. Write the engines, languages and check dates there, and keep them fixed.

  2. Part B, the count: give how often you were named, out of how many answers, never one answer. In our test of Malaysian buying questions through OpenAI's API, two answers to the same question shared only 15% of the businesses they named. Just 18 of the 344 businesses named for a question (each question's list counted on its own) came back in all three answers, and 12 of those 18 were hotels, from two questions that named well-known hotels.

The pattern isn't only Malaysian. SparkToro's US study of brand recommendations found "there's a <1 in 100 chance that ChatGPT or Google's AI, if asked 100X, will give you the same list of brands in any two responses"1. (Why answers change.)

Give each engine and each language its own cell, not one blended score that hides the gaps. In our test, answers to the same question in different languages shared only 7–11% of the businesses they named (languages explained). Leave out a rank or "first mention position": ChatGPT suggested tracking it in one of its two answers to this question, yet in our test most businesses named in more than one answer to the same question changed place between answers.

  3. Part C, the change: call it real only when it is bigger than normal wobble and holds over several checks. With small counts, a move of one or two answers can be chance (margins explained).

Note beside part C what it can't explain. A check shows the answers changed, not whether your page, a competitor's or the engine caused it. Our test figures come from ChatGPT through OpenAI's API; logged-in app answers on a customer's phone can differ. And our repeat answers all came from one evening, so we haven't yet published a week-by-week measurement; our reading is that time adds change, as new pages appear and competitors update theirs.

  4. Part D, the fix list: turn the count into work. List who was named instead of you, which pages were cited, and what the AI got wrong (what each measure points to).

  5. Part E, the appendix: keep screenshots, but only as examples. Label each with its engine, date and language, and never use one as proof of visibility.

How does EasyFound fill in this AI visibility report for brands in Malaysia?

EasyFound supplies the counts for parts B and C by asking the same questions on a schedule, daily by default, and reporting how often you're named across many answers over time, not a one-off screenshot. EasyFound sells an AI visibility tool, so read this as our claim about ourselves. Every number shows which engine, date and language it came from.

For part B, the checks our team runs cover six AI engines (ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode) and English, Malay and Mandarin, each reported on its own; Manglish questions are tracked as typed, not as a separate language setting. For part D, it groups the sites each engine cites as yours, competitors' and others, and shows how AI describes you, with the answers as evidence.

Self-serve sign-up for the tool isn't open yet; it has a waitlist. Today our team runs it and makes the fixes by hand once you approve them. To compare tools, see what to look for in an AI visibility tool.

Where do I start on our first monthly AI visibility report?

Start with a baseline for part B, then lock part A so every later month compares like with like:

  1. Request EasyFound's free check. It shows what ChatGPT tells customers about your business today: a first baseline on one engine, not the monthly schedule.
  2. Write the question list for part A. Ten questions customers really ask, in English, Malay and Mandarin, including one in Manglish.
  3. Pick the engines and the check dates, write them on the set-up line, and keep them the same next month.

EasyFound is an AI search visibility (GEO) tool built for Malaysian businesses. It turns the screenshot your boss forwarded into a monthly count, per engine and per language, from the same questions asked again and again.

Frequently asked questions

Can I put a ChatGPT screenshot in a monthly marketing report?

You can include a ChatGPT screenshot as an example, but not as the measure. A screenshot is one answer, from one AI engine, in one language, on one day, often taken in a logged-in account that has its own memory. In EasyFound's Malaysian test through OpenAI's API, two answers to the same question shared only 15% of the businesses they named. Report how often your brand was named across the same questions asked on a schedule instead.

How do I check what ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity say about our brand?

Ask each AI engine the same list of customer questions, logged out or in a set-up with no chat history or memory, on a fixed schedule. Record every answer with its engine, date and language. Then count how often your brand is named on each engine separately, because a figure from one AI engine says nothing about another. By hand this works for a few questions; across several engines and languages it quickly becomes a lot of repetition.

Does ChatGPT name the same brands in Malay and English?

Often not. In EasyFound's September 2026 test of Malaysian buying questions through OpenAI's API, answers to the same question in different languages shared only 7–11% of the businesses they named. Two answers in the same language shared 15%. Part of the gap is ordinary change between answers, but an English-only check can still miss where a brand is named in Malay or Mandarin, so report each language on its own.

Is checking ChatGPT by hand good enough for AI visibility reporting?

Checking ChatGPT by hand can work for a small, fixed set of questions if you ask each one several times, logged out (a new chat in your own account can still use memory), on the same days each month, and write down every answer with its date. It gets heavy fast once you multiply the questions by languages, by AI engines and by repeats. Whichever way you do it, keep the question list and the schedule the same, or month-to-month figures can't be compared.

Our data: the opening finding comes from four ChatGPT answers collected on 21 October 2026: this article's title question and one variant ("We saw our brand in ChatGPT once. Will it be there next week? (Malaysia)"), asked twice each through OpenAI's Responses API (gpt-5.4-mini, web search available, location Malaysia), not the ChatGPT app. None of the four named another AI engine or mentioned Malay, Mandarin or Manglish; one of the two answers to the title question suggested "first mention position" (CSV). Repeat answers: 135 ChatGPT answers to 45 Malaysian buying questions (15 questions in English, Malay and Chinese, five trades), three runs each on 24 September 2026, same API set-up. The 15% is the average overlap of businesses named between two runs of the same question; 18 of 344 business-and-question pairings appeared in all three runs, 12 of them hotels (CSV). Answers to the same question in different languages shared 7–11% of the businesses named, in the same test (from the test's name lists; the per-run CSV leaves business names out). Of the 72 businesses named in more than one run of a question, 48 changed place in the list (CSV). EasyFound's features are described from its tool page and product notes as of 21 October 2026.
