What should I look for in an AI visibility tool? (Malaysia)
EasyFound · · 7 min read
Look for a tool that asks your customers' real questions in Malay, Mandarin and Manglish as well as English, and reports each main language separately. It should check more than ChatGPT, repeat every question, and show the answers and the pages behind them. In our tests, about seven in ten businesses ChatGPT named for Malay or Chinese questions were missing from its English answers. Then decide who acts on it.
Look for an AI visibility tool that asks your customers' real questions in the languages they type, including Malay, Mandarin and Manglish, and reports each main language separately. It should check more than ChatGPT, ask each question more than once, and show you the full answers and the pages behind them. Then decide who will act on what it finds.
Picture a renovation contractor in Shah Alam watching a demo. The charts look busy, but every question in the tool is in English, and half his customers WhatsApp him in Malay.
When we asked ChatGPT "What should I look for in an AI visibility tool in Malaysia?" through OpenAI's API on 19 October 2026, both answers mentioned Malay, but neither mentioned Mandarin. Between them they cited two global SEO software companies and one Google report, and no Malaysian business's website.
What should an AI visibility tool for a Malaysian business check?
An AI visibility tool for a Malaysian business should check six things. Most are tied to something our Malaysian tests found:
- Your customers' languages, kept separate. About seven in ten businesses ChatGPT named for a Malay or Chinese question weren't in the English answers to the same question. Part of that is ordinary change between answers, but an English-only check can miss them, so a multilingual tool should report each language on its own (languages explained).
- Questions typed the way Malaysians type them. Manglish is the everyday mix of Malay and English, such as "kafe best untuk brunch di KL". You should be able to read and edit every question (building a question list).
- More than ChatGPT. ChatGPT sent most AI chatbot visits to websites in Malaysia in September 2026, and Gemini came second, per StatCounter. The two rarely agree: their answers shared only 6% of the businesses named.
- Each question, more than once. Two ChatGPT answers to the same question shared only 15% of the businesses they named, so a single run tells you little.
- What the AI says about you, and who it names instead. Being named is half of it. The tool should show how you're described, which competitors appear in your place, and any wrong hours, prices or services (fixing wrong details).
- The pages behind each answer. More than half the times ChatGPT named a business, it cited no page from that business's own site. The cited pages show what you can fix.
Which AI visibility tool features should a Malaysian business be wary of?
Be wary of any AI visibility tool feature that can't be checked against a real answer, starting with an AI "ranking position", which SparkToro's Rand Fishkin called "full of baloney"1. Google's own guide adds: "No third-party tool has access to our internal ranking or AI systems."2
| What the demo shows | What to ask for instead |
|---|---|
| A "rank" or "position" in ChatGPT | How often you're named across many repeated answers |
| One score out of 100 | The full answers behind the score, with dates |
| English questions only | The same questions in Malay and Mandarin, reported separately |
| One AI tool's results | Each AI tool your customers use, shown separately |
| A promise to get you recommended | What they'll change, and how they'll re-check it |
How the counting itself should work, run by run, is covered in how AI visibility tools measure ChatGPT.
Who will act on what an AI visibility tool finds?
Most AI visibility tools mainly monitor what AI says about your business and usually don't change your website or listings, so decide before you buy who will make the changes (software or agency).
How does EasyFound measure up against this AI visibility tool checklist?
EasyFound sells an AI visibility tool, so this section is our claim about ourselves, not a review. Here is how it compares with the checklist, as of 19 October 2026:
| Checklist item | EasyFound today |
|---|---|
| Languages kept separate | English, Malay and Mandarin, each reported on its own |
| Manglish | Tracked as typed; not a separate language setting |
| More than ChatGPT | Six AI engines in the checks our team runs: ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode |
| Repeated questions | The same questions asked on a schedule, daily by default |
| What AI says about you | How AI describes you, with the answers as evidence |
| Pages behind each answer | The sites each AI engine cites, grouped as yours, competitors' and others |
| Who acts on it | Our team, by hand, once you approve each change |
Two things we don't do. The tool doesn't show the web searches an AI runs behind a question; our published search data comes from research tests. And self-serve sign-up for the tool isn't open yet; it has a waitlist.
What can't this AI visibility tool checklist tell me?
- We have an interest. We wrote a checklist that our own tool is built to pass, so test us like any other provider.
- Most of our figures come from ChatGPT, tested through OpenAI's API. What the app or Gemini shows your customers can differ.
- No one has measured which tool features lead to more recommendations. The checklist tells you what a tool can show you, not what it will win you.
How do I start choosing an AI visibility tool for my Malaysian business?
Choosing an AI visibility tool is easier once you know what AI says about you today:
- Request EasyFound's free check. It shows what ChatGPT tells customers about your business today. It is one ChatGPT snapshot, not the full checklist.
- Write down five questions your customers really ask, in each language they use. Include one in Manglish.
- Ask every vendor to run one of them live, in Malay or Mandarin, and show you the full answer and the pages it linked.
- Decide who makes the fixes before you sign anything.
EasyFound is an AI search visibility (GEO) tool built for Malaysian businesses. Hold everything we show you against this checklist, row by row, including the two things we don't do.

Frequently asked questions
What should an AI visibility tool for a Malaysian business check?
An AI visibility tool for a Malaysian business should check the questions your customers ask AI, in English, Malay, Mandarin and the Manglish mix they actually type, with each language reported separately. It should cover the AI tools your customers use, not only ChatGPT, ask each question more than once, and show the full answers, what the AI said about you, and the pages it linked. A tool that only gives a single score or a 'ranking position' can't be checked.
What should an AI visibility tool demo show me before I pay?
An AI visibility (or GEO, generative engine optimisation) tool demo should show one of your own customer questions, asked in Malay or Mandarin as well as English, with the full answer, the businesses named, the pages the AI linked and the date. It should show the same question asked more than once and in more than one AI tool. If a demo shows only a score or a 'rank' and can't open the answers behind it, you can't check what you are paying for.
Can an AI visibility tool guarantee that ChatGPT will recommend my business?
No. No AI visibility tool can guarantee that ChatGPT or Google's AI will recommend your business. OpenAI says of ChatGPT search that 'Placement is not guaranteed', and Google says to be wary of third-party tools that promise ranking success, adding that no third-party tool has access to its internal ranking or AI systems. A tool can only show you what AI says about you today and help you see what to fix.
Does an AI visibility tool need my customers' personal data?
Checking what AI tools say about your business needs your business name, your website and the questions customers ask, not your customer list. If a tool or provider asks you to connect a customer database or CRM, ask what it stores and how it handles that data under Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) before you agree.

Our data: the opening figure comes from four ChatGPT answers collected on 19 October 2026: two versions of this article's question ("What should an AI visibility tool for a Malaysian business check?" and "What should I look for in an AI visibility tool in Malaysia?"), asked twice each through OpenAI's Responses API (gpt-5.4-mini, web search available, location Malaysia), not the ChatGPT app. The figure is about the buyer version; the other version was read as what to check about the business itself. None of the four answers mentioned Mandarin or Chinese (CSV). Languages: 151 of 217 businesses named for a Malay or Chinese question never appeared in the three English answers to the same question, 24 September 2026 (CSV). Repeat answers: the 15% overlap is from the same 24 September test, 45 questions with three runs each (CSV). The 6% overlap between Gemini and ChatGPT is from a 1 October 2026 test of both tools on those questions (CSV). Mentions and own-site citations come from the 24 September 2026 test (CSV). EasyFound's own features are described from its tool page as of 19 October 2026.
