How do I get my payroll software recommended by ChatGPT? (Malaysia)
EasyFound · · 8 min read
Give every compliance question your buyers ask its own plain page: statutory deductions, foreign workers' EPF, leave and claims on mobile. In our Malaysian test, ChatGPT mostly named Malaysia-focused payroll products and repeated the EPF, SOCSO, EIS and PCB claims on their own pages. A Malay question about KWSP and PCB got government pages and no product at all in all 3 answers.
To get your payroll software recommended by ChatGPT in Malaysia, answer each compliance question buyers ask on its own plain page: EPF, SOCSO, EIS and PCB, foreign workers' EPF, and leave and claims on mobile. In our test, ChatGPT mostly named Malaysia-focused products and repeated the statutory claims on their own pages, but answered a Malay question about KWSP, PERKESO and PCB with government pages and no product.
EasyFound ran this test, and we sell AI visibility work, so the source is an interested one. The buyer questions were mostly short, keyword-like phrases, each asked three times. The sections below follow an HR manager's worries in turn, starting with statutory deductions.
| Buyer's question | Products named per run | Pages it linked most |
|---|---|---|
| Statutory deductions for a 30-staff SME (English) | 3, 5, 8 | Vendors' own pages |
| KWSP, PERKESO and PCB for a small company (Malay) | None | KWSP, PERKESO and LHDN only |
| EPF for foreign workers | 3, 1, 2 | Vendors' pages and EPF pages |
| Leave and claims on mobile | 6, 5, 8 | Vendors' app pages, review sites |
| Best payroll software in Malaysia | 7, 6, 4 | Vendors' pages, government pages, a vendor's "best" list |
| Which payroll software suits an SME (Chinese) | 5, 7, 3 | Mixed, including a vendor's "best" list |
Which payroll software does ChatGPT name when a Malaysian SME asks about EPF, SOCSO, EIS and PCB?
For an SME asking about EPF, SOCSO, EIS and PCB in English, ChatGPT named mostly Malaysian payroll products, straight from their own websites: 14 of 15 links went to a vendor's own page. Products came with the statutory list their own pages advertised, sometimes down to EPF Borang A, CP39 and EA forms. Only one answer in the whole test quoted a ringgit price.
The same worry in Malay, "sistem gaji untuk syarikat kecil di Malaysia yang kira KWSP, PERKESO dan PCB", got no product in any of the three answers. ChatGPT searched in English, linked only KWSP, PERKESO and LHDN, explained the rates and offered to help build a payroll system in Excel.
Our reading: it took the question as a how-to, and we can't separate the wording from the language.
What does ChatGPT say about payroll software for foreign workers' EPF in Malaysia?
For foreign workers' EPF, ChatGPT named fewer payroll products than for any other question that named products, and linked EPF's own pages in every run. Each answer described at least one product as handling non-citizen employees, a claim from that vendor's own page or guide.
KWSP's rule is the reason buyers ask. Its page says: "Non-Malaysian citizen employees with a valid passport and work pass (excluding domestic workers*) must be registered and have contributions made on their behalf by their employers", and "Employers are only required to register and contribute for their non-Malaysian citizen employees starting 1 October 2025" (KWSP). The rate is 2% each from employer and employee. Two answers told buyers to ask vendors about that rate, passport and permit fields, or PR staff.
Two answers linked pages on an epf.gov.my subdomain rather than kwsp.gov.my. Two listed EPF's own e-Payroll first, which KWSP says is aimed at employers, "particularly micro and small employers" (KWSP). Across the whole test, e-Payroll was offered in 7 of 18 answers.
Which HR apps does ChatGPT suggest in Malaysia for leave and claims on mobile?
For leave and claims on mobile, ChatGPT suggested a different set of HR apps sold in Malaysia almost every time: 15 different products in all, with a different one first each run. That fits how much ChatGPT's answers drift from run to run.
It linked vendors' "mobile app" and "employee self-service" pages and Google Play listings. One answer linked only G2 and Capterra profiles, unlike our earlier software recount, where no review site was linked. None of these answers mentioned EPF, SOCSO or PCB, so a payroll page alone may not cover this question.
What does ChatGPT answer when a buyer asks for the best payroll software in Malaysia?
For "best payroll software in Malaysia", ChatGPT's list changed each run and sometimes came from a vendor's own ranking, with a different product first in each English run. In Chinese, the same product came first in two of three runs, and every search was in English.
Three answers linked a vendor's own "best payroll software" article, and each named the vendor that wrote it, as in our AI automation test. In one, that article was the only link, and its author came first.
By our reading of each product's own site, Malaysian products dominated across the 18 answers:
- Malaysia-focused products: 60 of 73 namings.
- Singapore-based products sold across Southeast Asia: 10.
- International products: 3.
LHDN approval came up twice: once as a product's "LHDN-approved positioning", and once as advice to check LHDN's list of payroll providers that meet its PCB calculation specification.
What should a Malaysian payroll software company publish so ChatGPT can repeat it?
ChatGPT repeated what vendors' pages stated in plain text, so put a short, dated compliance block on each product page.
Example only: a compliance block (placeholders, not real figures)
- Statutory deductions: calculates EPF (KWSP), SOCSO (PERKESO), EIS and PCB (MTD) at the rates in force from [effective date].
- Files: EPF Borang A, the PERKESO SOCSO and EIS file, e-PCB and CP39, EA forms, and bank files for [banks].
- Foreign workers: EPF for non-Malaysian employees with a valid passport and work pass, from October 2025 wages; PR employees set up as [how].
- LHDN: [your status, worded exactly as on LHDN's published list, with the list's date].
- Leave and claims on mobile: [iOS / Android / web app].
- Price: from RM[amount] per [employee / company] per month.
- Last checked: [date].
- See today's answer first, with EasyFound's free check. It shows what ChatGPT tells an HR manager who types, say, "Our factory in Senai has 40 foreign workers. Which payroll software does their EPF properly?" We then go through it with you on a free call.
- Give each compliance question its own page, titled the way buyers ask, with "Malaysia" in it.
- Date every rate. Update the block, and its date, whenever KWSP, PERKESO or LHDN change a rate.
- Match your app store listing and review-site profiles to the block, and label any "best payroll software" article you publish as yours.

Frequently asked questions
Which AI visibility or GEO service is good for a payroll software company in Malaysia?
There isn't a provider anyone can honestly call the best for payroll vendors, and EasyFound sells this work, so treat our view as an interested one. A useful provider asks the compliance questions HR managers actually type, such as EPF for foreign workers, PCB or leave on mobile, in English, Malay and Chinese. It repeats each question several times, because answers change between runs, and lets you read the raw answers and the pages linked, not just a score.
Why does ChatGPT recommend other payroll software in Malaysia and not mine?
Partly because each answer names only a handful of products and the list changes. In EasyFound's test of 16 October 2026, ChatGPT named a median of five products in the answers that named any, and no question had the same product first in all three runs. The products it named were usually described with the EPF, SOCSO, EIS and PCB claims from their own websites, or came from a vendor's own 'best payroll software' article. This was ChatGPT through OpenAI's API, not the app.
Does ChatGPT suggest KWSP's e-Payroll instead of paid payroll software?
Sometimes, in EasyFound's Malaysian test. ChatGPT offered EPF's own e-Payroll as an option in 7 of 18 answers, usually as the low-cost choice for small employers, and sometimes listed it first. KWSP says e-Payroll aims to help employers, 'particularly micro and small employers'. A payroll vendor's page can say plainly what it does beyond that, such as leave, claims or more complex PCB cases.
Should my payroll software website say it handles EPF for foreign workers?
Yes, if it does, in plain text with the date it took effect. KWSP made EPF contributions mandatory for non-Malaysian citizen employees with a valid passport and work pass, excluding domestic workers, from 1 October 2025, at 2% each from employer and employee. In EasyFound's test, all three answers about foreign workers' EPF described at least one product as handling non-citizen or foreign employees, a claim taken from that vendor's own page or guide. Two answers also told buyers to ask vendors about the rate, passport and permit fields, or PR staff.

Our data: EasyFound, ChatGPT answers to Malaysian payroll and HR software questions, 16 October 2026. We asked six buyer questions from EasyFound's standard question set for this trade, mostly short and keyword-like: four in English, one in Malay and one in Chinese; the full wording is in the CSV. Each was asked three times through OpenAI's Responses API (gpt-5.4-mini-2026-03-17, web search tool, approximate location Malaysia), with no chat history, giving 18 answers; all 18 searched the web. These are API answers, not the ChatGPT app, which can differ. Gemini was not tested for this article, because its API quota had run out that day. Every answer was read in full and hand-coded. A product counts if a buyer could buy or hire it, in the order named; names joined by a slash count separately, and two products of one vendor in one answer count once. EPF's e-Payroll is a government tool, so it is tracked separately, not counted as a product. "Reach" is our reading of each product's own site: Malaysia-focused (presented as a Malaysian product, though a few also sell in Singapore or elsewhere in Asia), regional (a Singapore-based product sold across several Southeast Asian countries) or international (a global product with a Malaysian page); we did not check ownership or company registration. Across the 15 answers that named any product, the median was five; ChatGPT made 73 namings of 33 different products. Links are those shown in the answer, counted once per URL and typed by hand from address and title: 75 in all, 40 to vendors' own pages, 22 to government pages, 5 to review sites, 3 to vendors' own "best" articles, 3 to app stores or marketplaces, 1 to an independent comparison site and 1 to a video. Claims were coded by reading: a product "came with" the statutory list when the answer named EPF, SOCSO, EIS or PCB for it (11 of the 12 answers to the "best", 30-staff, foreign-worker and Chinese questions). The earlier software recount uses a different set of answers and model. Title check: this article's title, asked twice on 16 October 2026, searched and cited only OpenAI's own pages both times. Per-answer data (CSV). We don't name payroll products, because one day's answers are not a ranking.
